Aurora ships Decima CD TM demonstration system to Hauman Technologies

North Vancouver, BC, Canada, April 23, 2014 –ACT Aurora Control Technologies Corp. (TSX-V: ACU) is pleased to announce the shipment of a Decima CD TM demonstration system to Hauman Technologies, our market partner in Taiwan.

This compact and portable system allows rapid measurement of multiple silicon wafers directly from any number of diffusion furnaces in a manufacturer’s production facility. With this system, process stability and yield can be rapidly assessed and benchmarked against common metrics.

“Consistent wafer-to-wafer fabrication of the emitter is a critical step in achieving high yields during solar cell fabrication” said Gordon Deans, Aurora’s President and CEO. “Emitter fabrication is carried out in multi-chamber high-temperature batch furnaces with many hundreds of wafers processed in each batch. During processing, complex variations occur throughout and across the chambers. Measurement and control of these variations is the key to high yield. With the Decima CD demonstration system, manufacturers get an immediate visualization of the variations in their process and a benchmark for the increased yield and profitability using Aurora’s products.”

Hauman will use the demonstration system for customer evaluations, marketing and sales of Aurora’s products in Taiwan.

Aurora is also pleased to announce that in cooperation with Hanwha Q CELLS, they will be presenting a paper outlining the Decima CD's proven capabilities at a leading industry conference - the IEEE Photovoltaics Specialists' Conference (PVSC) - to be held in Boulder, CO in June. The paper describes the results and capabilities of the Decima measurement system as tested and verified in both laboratory studies and live production-line operation at Q CELLS' R&D and production facilities in Germany. The IEEE PVSC conference has been held annually for 40 years, and brings together industry technology leaders from around the globe. This year the conference committee has placed special emphasis on advanced measurement technology to aid solar cell design and production.
