Bayfield Further Extends Rainy River's ODM17 Gold Zone on "Burns" Block, NW Ontario
Bayfield Further Extends Rainy River's ODM17 Gold Zone on "Burns" Block, NW Ontario

Vancouver, BC - Bayfield Ventures Corp. (TSX-V: BYV) (FWB: B4N) (the “Company”) announces drill results from its phase one 2010 winter drill program on its “Burns” Block claim group in the Rainy River District of Northwestern Ontario. The Burns Block is situated immediately to the east, on strike, of the Rainy River Resources (TSX-V: RR) major gold deposit.

Three diamond drill holes totalling 1509 metres were completed on the Burns Block property in February 2010. The holes were along the western edge of the property and completed a section immediately on strike with the eastern end of the “ODM17” zone of Rainy River Resources. The ODM17 zone is known to extend from the Rainy River Resources ground on to Bayfield’s Burns block.

All three holes encountered gold values in the same litho-structural settings that host the ODM17 Zone and North Zone on the Rainy River Resources property. Gold mineralization is widespread within a sheared felsic pyroclastic sequence. Gold grade appears to be strongly influenced by proximity to the margins of strong sericitic alteration within the shear system.

Please find the table with the results under the following link: http://www.irw-press.com/dokumente/Bayfield_030310_EN.pdf

The holes completed by Bayfield confirm the continuity of gold mineralization of the Rainy River Resources ODM17 zone along strike and down dip. The North zone has been confirmed to extend on to the Burns Block at depth. The “drill indicated” open pit resource on the Rainy River Resources ground (news release March 2nd) is stated as 55,657,000 tonnes at a grade of 1.20 g/t gold for a total of 2.37 Moz gold and 2.66 Moz gold in the inferred resource category.
