CEO Appointment – European Lithium Strengthens Management in Austria

4 May 2018 - European Lithium Limited (ASX:EUR, FRA:PF8, VSE:ELI) (the Company) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dietrich Wanke, as CEO of the Company. He is replacing Mr Steve Kesler who leaves us today. Mr. Wanke has successfully run European Lithium’s operations in Austria as the Company’s General Manager since 2016. He was responsible for the development of the Wolfsberg resource from an exploration into a pre-production project.

 

Dietrich lives and operates in Wolfsberg, has built up and runs the local team and is well-known and respected by the Company’s shareholders in Europe as well as in the Carinthia region, where he has strong relationships with local government, businesses and community.

 

Mr. Wanke is a highly experienced mine engineer/surveyor with more than 30 years’ experience in management at operational level for both underground and open cut mines. Mr. Wanke has held statutory positions as registered manager under the applicable mining acts in several commodities and countries, including Germany, Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Sierra Leone. His experience extends through all operational phases, starting from greenfield exploration to full scale production as well as extension of existing mines. His previous roles include, General Manager for Marampa Iron Ore in Sierra Leone, General Manager for Tolukuma Gold Mines in Papua New Guinea, Mine Manager for Atlas Iron in Western Australia, Technical Services Manager for Thiess (hard coal) in Indonesia, Mine Manager for Kimberley Diamonds in Western Australia, Technical Services Manager for Lightning Nickel in Western Australia, Technical Director for LMV, an engineering/surveying service provider for coal mines in Germany and Technical Services Manager and Licensed Surveyor for Laubag (lignite) in Germany.

 

Mr. Wanke holds a Mine Engineering/Mine Surveying degree from Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, a licensed Mine Surveyor’s certificate in Germany and 1st class Mine Manger’s certificates in Western Australia and Papua New Guinea.

 

The appointment follows the announcement of the recent completion of the Wolfsberg Lithium Project PFS and the transformation of the Company’s Austrian subsidiary, ECM Lithium AT GmbH (which owns the project and is 100 percent owned by European Lithium Limited) into European Lithium AG. Both being key to become Europe’s first Lithium producerThe Company’s next steps include the completion of this transformation anticipated within the next few weeks and the commencement of the DFS, which is anticipated in the third quarter. Moreover, the company is in discussions with numerous European corporates regarding potential partnerships. 

 

Through strengthening European Lithium’s operating management in Austria, the company ensures operating efficiency and regular presence of its key personnel to facilitate communication with the government, businesses and community.
