ClearVue Technologies Limited: Scientific Paper Validating CPV Technology Trending Globally

Highlights

-          Scientific article on ClearVue technology at Warwick Grove in top 10% of all research publications ever tracked

-          A world-first report on the performance characteristics and practical application potential of high-transparency, clear glass-based solar windows

7 October 2019: Smart building materials company ClearVue Technologies Limited (ASX:CPV) (“ClearVue” or the Company”) is pleased to confirm that further to the publication and release of Edith Cowan University’s peer-reviewed paper on 24 September 2019 (as announced in the Company’s Market Update ASX Announcement of 27 September 2019) that used the Warwick Grove atrium entrance data as part of a study on BIPV the article is now trending globally.

In only 1 week since publication online, the article has already been viewed and downloaded worldwide from hundreds of unique IP addresses. This level of readership attention has placed the article into the top 10% of all research publications ever tracked by tracking service Altmetric[i] (a combined body of literature composed of 13,589,846 peer-reviewed publication outputs across all journals globally).  Additionally, the article is:

-          No. 1 of 19 of research outputs of similar age from the Journal ‘Applied Sciences’;

-          No. 14 of 1826 outputs from the Journal ‘Applied Sciences’; and

-          has (so far) appeared in 2 German news articles.

The article attracting the interest is a peer-reviewed scientific journal article published in globally distributed journal Applied Sciences (Appl. Sci. 2019, 9(19), 4002) (the full article is located at, and can be downloaded from[iii]: https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3417/9/19/4002#stats_id) and is based on a technical / scientific study carried out by Edith Cowan University researchers using data collected and analyzed from the Company’s trial site at the Warwick Grove Shopping Centre.

The study represents, to the best knowledge of the researchers, a world-first report on the field performance characteristics and practical application potential of high-transparency, clear glass-based solar windows built using all-inorganic functional materials in built environments where the windows are mounted in multiple orientations.

Importantly for the Company, the study compared software modelled predictions for the expected monthly and yearly energy generation outputs, linked to the actual location of the system and the orientations of all window panels, to the field-measured actual performance characteristics. The measured data were proven to be in close alignment with the modelled performance and validate the predicted power performance.

Additionally a scientific evaluation of the practical scalability and future application potential of similar solar window installations has been provided in the article - resulting in conclusions stating that multiple new, larger-scale solar window installations can now be expected, including specifically for applications such as airport roofs and large shopping centre domes and skylighting.

In particular, a dome-type installation with a diameter near 35 meters is predicted to generate at least 140 kWh of electric energy per average sunny day (the article suggesting that this corresponds to the

total daily electric energy consumption requirements of approximately 10 x 3-bedroom Australian households)[iv] – being approximately the same as the winter-long generation output from Warwick Grove trial installation, which only used 18 solar windows of non-optimum orientation.

END.

About ClearVue Technologies Limited

ClearVue Technologies Limited (ASX: CPV) is an Australian technology company that operates in the Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BPIV) sector which involves the integration of solar technology into building surfaces, specifically glass and building façades, to provide renewable energy. ClearVue has developed advanced glass technology that aims to preserve glass transparency to maintain building aesthetics whilst generating electricity.

Solar PV cells are incorporated around the edges of an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) used in windows and the lamination interlayer between the glass in the IGU incorporates ClearVue’s patented proprietary nano and micro particles, as well as its spectrally selective coating on the rear external surface of the IGU.

ClearVue’s window technology has application for use in the building and construction and agricultural industries (amongst others).

ClearVue has worked closely with leading experts from the Electron Science Research Institute, Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Perth, Western Australia to develop the technology.
