Zinco Announces Continuation of Exploration Work on Its San Juan Prospect in the Cuale District, Jalisco VMS Project, Mexico

Zinco Mining Corporation (TSX-V: ZIM, FRA: 61Z) is pleased to announce plans to commence diamond core drilling on its San Juan prospect in the Cuale volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) camp.

Commenting on the planned diamond core drilling program, Zinco’s president, David Elgee, said: "Diamond core drilling will provide important stratigraphic and structural information about the San Juan prospect. The 2008 reverse circulation drilling results were very positive. The Company completed 4751.2 meters of reverse circulation drilling in 33 holes that delivered 38 mineralized intercepts of potential economic interest. One hole, ZIM9, which intercepted 85.7 meters of 185 grams silver per tonne, is particularly encouraging.”

Based on historical data available to Zinco, the ZIM9 intercept is the longest contiguous drill hole intercept of high-grade, silver-rich mineralization in any of the six VMS districts on its mining concessions. Zinco has reviewed the data for 37,521.5 meters of historic diamond core drilling in 557 drill holes both on and outside its concession area.

Other 2008 intercepts with significant silver results on the San Juan propect include:

• ZIM9 with 85.7 meters of 185 g/t Ag, 1.5% Zn and 0.8% Pb,

• ZIM3, collared 41 m east-northeast of ZIM9, with 108.1 meters of 58 g/t Ag, 1.4% Zn and 0.7% Pb,

• ZIM1, collared 135 m north-northeast of ZIM9, with 14.3 meters of 127 g/t Ag, 2.9% Zn and 0.9% Pb.

• ZIM5, collared 215 m north-northeast of ZIM9, with 25.5 meters of 72 g/t Ag, 0.4% Zn and 0.2% Pb.

These are reverse circulation drilling intercepts, and due to the inherent uncertainties in this drilling technique (see below), the true widths may differ from the drill intercept widths.

The reverse circulation drilling was done as a result of positive results obtained in fieldwork carried out in 2007.

In 2007, Zinco identified one of the strongest geochemical anomalies for silver on its entire VMS Property in the San Juan prospect area. The anomaly is 225 meters long and defined by 19 soil samples in two survey lines 100 meters apart. The average result of these soil samples is 12.4 ppm Ag, 354 ppm Pb, 47 ppb Au, 216 ppm As, 74 ppm Sb and 732 ppm Ba. The highest silver result is 48.9 ppm Ag. Follow-up mapping using a portable Niton XRF gun in the anomaly area shows that mineralization at San Juan occurs over a 280 meter strike length near the contact between a flow-banded, spherulitic rhyolite flow-dome and overlying rhyolite lapilli tuff. Eleven historic mine workings are located along this contact. The average result of 24 chip channel and grab samples from surface rock sampling along the mineralized zone is 139.2 g/t Ag, 0.36% Zn, 0.36% Pb and 0.1 g/t Au. The mineralization consists mainly of yellow disseminated sphalerite with minor pyrite, galena and tetrahedrite. Only the easternmost part of the prospect has been drill-tested, and San Juan remains open at least 100 meters to the west.

Cuale is one of six VMS camps that occur entirely or partially in its 52,766 Ha concession area, centered on an erosional window of the Guerrero Terrane in western Jalisco State.

Zinco acquired 100% of the 52,766 Ha Jalisco VMS Project by staking over a period of years between 1998 and 2007. The Project occurs between the cities of Puerto Vallarta and Talpa de Allende, and consists of 8 mining and 2 exploitation concessions (http://www.zincomining.com/s/LocationAndAccess.asp). Collectively, there are 6 VMS Districts entirely or partially in Zinco’s concessions. These include Cuale, Desmoronado, Aranjuez, Bramador, El Rubi and La Mina.

The Company is mainly exploring its concessions for volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits (http://www.zincomining.com/s/DepositTypes.asp). Collectively, there are 179 known historic mineral workings (mines, tunnels and open pits) in the Project area. Previous work on the mineral prospects owned by Zinco includes 22,248 meters of historic (pre-1987) drilling, 1859 line kilometers of airborne geophysics, 10 654 soil samples, 2710 stream sediment samples and 572 rock samples. Qualified Person

This press release was reviewed by Michelle Robinson, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., a Director of Zinco Mining Corporation, who acts as Zinco’s qualified person as defined by NI 43-101. Reverse circulation drill cuttings were collected at 1.02 meter intervals. At the drill site, a 1 to 2 kilogram split for assay was prepared, numbered, and sealed in a plastic bag. A smaller split of washed chips from each sample was placed in marked RC chip trays for geological inspection and logging. The remaining sample material was analysed with a portable Niton XRF, then sealed in plastic bags and stored on site. The Niton data were downloaded on-site every 12 hours to guide on-site drilling decisions. The splits for assay were securely packaged and sent via Transportes Castores to ACME Analytical Laboratories Mexico S.A. de C.V. in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico for sample preparation. At ACME’s preparation lab, the samples were crushed and pulverized to 200 mesh, and prepared pulps were couriered to Vancouver via DHL Express. Thirty gram splits were assayed for gold using fire assay fusion Au by ICP-ES. Base metals, silver and other trace and major elements were analyzed using 0.5 grams of pulp in a hot 4 acid digestion and combined ICP-ES and ICP-MS methods. The method provides trace and major element data for both silicate and sulfide minerals. Acme's quality control system complies with the requirements for the International Standard ISO 9001:2000 by monitoring analytical accuracy and precision with the insertion and analysis of blanks, reference standards and duplicate samples. Zinco’s quality control is further assured by the use of blind standards and blanks inserted into the sample stream.

The information from RC drilling is semi-quantitative for the following reasons:

• A set sample length is used, so the boundaries of the mineralization are not known precisely.

• The cuttings are lifted to surface using air or some other drilling fluid. If coarse gold or other heavy minerals are present, the circulation of the fluid can cause them to settle to the bottom of the drill hole. Therefore, assays of the cuttings can under-report values for heavy metals or minerals.

• The material recovered is in small chips, and diagnostic rock textures are destroyed. Therefore, much of the geological and structural information that is present in undisturbed rock cannot be documented.
