Zurich Capital Markets AG announces appointment of Dr Christian Kruse as Chief Executive Officer.
Zurich, 7th June 2011, Zurich Capital Markets AG (“ZCM” or “the Company”) announces that Dr Christian Kruse will join the Company as CEO with immediate effect andwill also join the board of directors subject to approval at an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders to be convened in the third quarter.
Dr Kruse (aged 41) has several years’ experience in the international financial services sector. From 2007 to 2010 Dr Kruse has been a wealth manager at Bank Morgan Stanley, Zurich focused on family office type clients in Switzerland, Germany and the Middle East. Dr Kruse’s team providedspecialised services in strategic asset allocation, private aircraft and yacht finance, escrow transactions, private equity investments, large real estate structures and art banking. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley during the period 1998 to 2007, Dr Kruse worked as an independent financial advisor and consultant to members to members of European royal families as clients of Swiss banks. Previously, Dr Kruse has been a senior researcher at the Swiss Banking Institute of the University of Zurich and has worked for several years as an academic at the ETH Zurich and as a consultant specialised in future strategies of financial service and technology companies. In 2007 Dr Kruse co-founded the Swiss Design Institute of Finance and Banking in Zurich, a joint research foundation and institute of five leading Swiss universities focussing on the future of the client-bank relationship in private banking and wealth management. Dr Kruse studied at the University of Frankfurt/Germany and specialised in cultural anthropology and economic geography. In 1998 Dr Kruse started PhD studies at the ETH Zurich and was awarded a Doctor of Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) with a thesis focussing on IPO's in Switzerland.
As CEO, Dr Kruse will be heavily involved in guiding the Company’s strategic development and his wealth of experience will prove invaluable to Company’s business strategy and network.
Dr Kruse commented: “By introduction of a first global private equity-exchange we expect to close a big gap in today’s highly developed and liquid financial markets and to serve the big need of thousands of small and medium sized private companies in their search for entrepreneurial capital.
As a matter of fact, the financing of private equity companies has been excluded from the achievement of today’s high tech financial products and industries and thus, has often been pushed into the grey or even dark and unregulated angles of the industry. It is grand time to change this. In most economies small and medium companies are producing up to 90% of the gross national product and are the real backbone of economic growth and welfare.”
